I just wanted to wish all the daddy's a Happy Father's Day and give a special shout out to the three awesome men in my life! My Dad, my Father in law Marv, and the best husband in the world Ben!
Yes that is me... I wanted to find a pic of me and my Dad when I was little and this was the best I could find on short notice!
For Father Day, we had breakfast with Ben's parents and then came home and napped. I think everyone in the house napped which was nice! Then after nap time we went to Souplantation and then swimming. While at breakfast, Avery was terrible! The last few days she has not wanted me to put her down at all so that continued at the restaurant. When she did want down, she wanted to run around and play so needless to say one of us spent the entire time outside with her. When we went out again for dinner, she was perfectly fine... She must have been having one of those morning!
In other Rosenthal happenings, we have continued to be a one nap a day household. We are still working out some of the kinks but overall the week has gone smooth. Her one nap ranges from 1 1/2 hours to 4 hours so we need to get a bit more consistent but its a transition, I know. Tonight is actually the first night that I put Avery to bed without a bottle. Honestly taking the bottle away was harder for me than her because I love giving her a bottle and snuggling with her in my rocking chair but I found a cup that does the trick and she took her milk in the sippy cup like a champ and she is out! I think I stress more about transitions than I need to but as a first time parent, some of these things can sounds daunting. By the second go around, I will be a pro!
We have a busy month coming up but I will be sure to take pics and update when I can!
Avery continues to amaze us each and every day. She understands just about everything that we say and picks up new words just about everyday. She has not started using two words at a time but her ability to understand us in uncanny! She knows most of her body parts, even ones like her elbows, knees and tongue! We ask her to get very specific toys and bring them to us and she gets them and brings them to us.
This past weekend Avery made the jump to one nap. I used to think that was an daunting thing to consider but in reality, it just happened. She began to sleep a little later each day and as this happened, we were able to push back her naps. For now she goes down by noon and sleeps about 2-21/2 hours. She does have a little bit of a hard time right about 630 or so at night so hopefully she either sleeps in later in the day and takes a later nap or starts to take a longer nap during the day. I will say that I do like this a bit better since now we have all morning and then all afternoon to get do things with her. She loves to go bye bye which means going in the car somewhere so needless to say its pretty easy to get her out of the house. With the warm weather she gets pretty worn out from the heat but it sure makes her sleep well!
One thing that she loves to do is play or swim in the water. She is such a little fish. It takes her a few minutes for her to warm up to the water but once she is in she wont get out! The warm weather has really made swimming and playing with water fun.
Avery continues to be completely independent and know exactly what she wants. The fact that she can't use all of her words is a little frustrating for her and us at times but what can you expect from a 16 month old. She has a very strong willed personality that I think will really benefit her as she gets older. As determined and head strong as she is, she sure gives the best love, kisses and hugs. She just about melts my heart with her lovey side! I hold her in my arms and am in awe of God and how he created this sweet little baby and in awe of Avery and how much I can love her.
We have a potty seat out for her to explore and to be honest, she loves to sit on it but mainly put things inside it. We're not going to push it... but it's ready for her when she is!
Here are a few other pics from the last few weeks.
