22 weeks

Our little girl is moving and shakin!  She sure is one busy little girl.  She gets up on all fours and rocks and usually ends up head diving but she sure is getting close.  She also can sit up pretty much on her own now but we still stay right by her just in case she ends up falling backward.  One other major development is that she officially found her voice.  She sings and yells at the top of her lungs and thinks it is the greatest thing.  We just sit there and listen to her and laugh at her hysterically.  She makes us laugh all the time and everyday is a new adventure with her.

The other big thing that happened this week is that were were gone for 4 days.  This is by far the longest that we have been away from here.  I sure missed her every second but it truly was a great weekend.  It was so nice to sleep in and actually walk out of the house with nothing in my hands but I would not trade the 30 minute gear up time to leave the house for anything in the world.  It was so nice to know that she was in great hands with Nana and I didn't have to worry for a second.  Nana took pictures quite often and sent us updates all the time.  Here are a few pics that Nana took.

This is at 6:45 pm.....

And this is 2 minutes later....  This is how fast she turns into a pumpkin at night

I was so happy to come home to my sweet little happy baby.  She is consistently sleeping from about 8 to 7 with a little give on each side.  I can almost guarantee that she will be crawling within the next 2 weeks and then we really need to baby proof this house!  We are starting her on cereal this next week so that will be a whole new adventure!  I know this blog is about Avery but here are a few pics from our fun weekend in Napa for my 30th birthday!

5 months!

Avery is 5 months old today!  Where does the time go.  We just weighed her and she weighs 17.5 lbs and she is 26 inches long.  She fits in mainly 9 month clothes but in some brands up to 12 months.  Monday we are going to start her on cereal since her high chair just came!

Dear Avery,
Daddy and I are getting ready for Mommy's 30th birthday trip to Napa to visit the wineries. Aunt Beckie is going and so is Aspen and Paul, and Cooper and Gwen's mommies and daddies.  This will be our first weekend away from you and you have no idea how much I will miss you.  Selfishly I am looking forward to a solid nights sleep but I will miss being able to turn over and look at the video monitor and see you sleeping.  I will miss waking up to you in the morning with a huge smile on your face.  I will miss your intensity when it comes to getting anything and everything in your mouth.  I will miss your determination to start crawling, but please, just wait until we get home to start.  I will miss watching you roll all over the floor and watching explore your surroundings with your eyes, ears, and touch.  I know that you will be in great hands with Nana being here and I am sure that I will skype with you a few times.  We need to teach Nana how to use the Flip camera to get some great videos of you while we are gone.  You truly are a blessing and I love every moment that I get to spend with you.

Love Mommy

21 Weeks

Almost 5 months!  Avery has really made some big strides this week.  She is getting closer to being able to crawl.  She gets up on all fours and rocks a bit and then ends up scooting backwards quite a bit.  She continues to roll all over the place and as soon as you turn your head for two seconds she is half way across the room!  I am sure that as soon as she figures out exactly how to crawl she will be a maniac!

Avery also had her second flight this week.  She has been such a big girl on all the flights so far!  I had a conference that I attended in San Diego so we stayed the at my parents from Wednesday to Monday morning. My mom got a lot of Avery and Nana time this past week which I know she loved.  Nana continues to make Avery laugh pretty hard quite often which is really cute!

Since I haven't done my "things I love about Avery" in awhile, here are just a few new ones...
  • I love that she sucks her bottom lip like its a pacifier
  • I love that blinks every time that you clap
  • I love that she is such a good snuggler, it just melts my heart
  • I love that she is such a chill baby and just loves to soak in her surroundings
  • I love that she always wakes up with a smile on her face
  • I love that she is such a happy baby...I am truly blessed
I love everything about her but its always fun to note the new things that she does that I just can't get enough of!

Avery has become quite obsessed with her sucking and her pacifier.  I am sure that those teeth will be coming in anytime now.  I think part of it is also that she is very interested in food so if she have a drink or food, she tries so hard to grab it and get a piece of it.  We are going to start rice cereal in about a week since her high chair just came!

She is also now big enough and strong enough to sit in a high chair.  We went to eat at a restaurant and she sat in the high chair and we also took her to Costco and she sat in the cart like such a big girl!

On Saturday we went to Orange County for a day of fun with Christy and Gwen.  We went to the Orange County Swap Meet, I just love that place.  I got a few cool things for Avery and a Fathers Day present for Ben that I will post a picture of later.  We had a great time!

Unfortunately we were not able to be with Ben on Fathers Day as is in Omaha for a little league baseball tournament.  He doesn't get home until Wednesday night but I am sure that Avery will have a huge smile waiting for him!  We had a nice Fathers Day with my Dad aka ThunderPa for Aves.  Yes, that is what he still calls himself.  We will see if that sticks.

Avery still can't decide when she wants to wake up in the morning.  She gets up anytime from 6am to 830 am and there really is no consistency.  I am trying to get a schedule for her but it all depends on when she wakes up in the morning.  I guess she is getting the sleep that she needs and just need to be prepared for some early AM's.  There have been a few times that she wakes up around 6 or 630 and I get her out of bed and bring her into bed and she falls right back asleep on me.  She is such a warm little cuddly bug!  I can't get enough of her!  I love you Avery!

20 Weeks

Where does the time go?  Really, Avery is 20 weeks today...  She is getting so big and changing so much and becoming such a little person with such a distinct personality.  I just love to watch her and see what she does next!

Avery has officially become a rolling machine.  At the beginning of the week she learned how to go from back to belly but now she rolls all over the place.  You put her at one edge of the blanket and she ends up off the blanket on the far side half way across the room in a blink of an eye.  We can officially no longer leave her for a moment and walk away.  Changing her on her changing table is a little scary as she likes to kick her legs up and roll over.  Getting her dressed and changing her diaper has become a bit of a project since all she wants to do is roll around!

She has also found her feet.  She grabs those feet every single chance that she gets.  Boy I wish I was as flexible as a baby!

We took her to the park for the first time and she got to go in the swing and she really liked it.  She just sat in that swing looking so relaxed and smiling at the world!

Sophey and Avery have continued to become best buds.  Avery just stares at Sophey all the time and grabs her extra skin by the handfuls.  Soph just takes it since most of the time it means she gets a few good licks in!

We also just got our pictures back from Jackie Wonders who did some pictures of us last time we were in San Diego.  I will be sure to post more later but here is just a little teaser.... Have a great week!

Guess who?

Can you guess who this is?

Nope, that's not Avery.  If you guessed Ben, you are correct.  Ben's mom got the photo albums out and we realized that Avery is an almost clone of Ben when he was a baby.  He loves that she is a mini-daddy!

19 Weeks

Well this has been quite a warm week for us.  It went from being in the 70's-80's to being over 100 degrees the last few days! Luckily we were able to spend the last two days in the pool which really helped. Avery has gone in the pool three times this week and each time I think she likes it a little more.  In fact she liked it from the beginning but we are gradually taking her in water that is less warm each time, trying to ease her way into it. She really does seem to like the water though. I am hoping to get her used to it so that she is not scared of it and then get her in swim lessons as soon as I can so that she can be a little fish in the water.

We have had a nice last week just enjoying the weather.  Avery loves to be outside and soak in her surroundings so I try to be outside with her as much as possible.  She is also becoming quite vocal and very active.  She may crawling quite soon.  When we lay her on her mat to play she ends up doing 360's and half way off the mat.  When she is on her belly she kicks her knees all the way up and scoots all around.  In fact she rolled from her back to belly today for the first time!! I have only had to go into her room a handful of times at night to flip her back over.  She still has a serious grip on anything that she can get her hands on and tries to put anything in her mouth.  She has yet to learn that when the has the pacifier in her mouth that nothing else will fit in there.  Its funny to see her try.  She can also put just about every finger in her mouth.  She ends up gagging herself sometimes which makes me laugh.  Her new thing is blowing major bubbles which is cute now but won't be so cute when she has food in her mouth! I am sure that will be heaven for Sophey though!  She sure is a great clean up dog!

I stayed up at the Bellagio for two nights this past week and it was really nice to sleep in a nice hotel room and eat some good food and see some co-workers but I sure missed Avery.  I know its good practice since we are going to Napa at the end of the month for 3 nights and 4 days!  Thank God for Skype!  Every night when we go up to give Avery a bath, Sophey comes up to her room and goes right to her bed and ussually stays in there until we go to bed or she hears us in the kitchen.

Well back to work!  Here are some pics from the week.

This is how Avery sleeps...can this really be comfortable....

I miss Avery!

This is the longest that I have ever been away from her!  I am staying at the Bellagio for some work meetings that I have so we took Avery to my mother in laws yesterday and she is having two sleep overs. On the positive side, Ben and I had a nice night and went to a nice dinner.  I do miss her terribly but know that she is in great hands.  I checked in a few times today and Aves was doing just fine.  I know this is good practice since we are going to Napa at the end of the month for three nights!  I am going to have to skype with her every day that I am gone!  I will say it is great to get solid sleep where I don't have an ear listening for her monitor but I will be so ready to see her tomorrow and resume my sleeping with one ear open.  I wouldn't trade anything for that!  I also miss Sophey snuggling on my feet in bed!
