Picture comparisons

We took a few pics with the girls and my Dad and they are quite fun to see.  I still don't know how similiar they are going to look... only time will tell:)

Kennedy 30 weeks

Well we are finally having some resemblance of a schedule!  This is pretty much how our day goes.  Kennedy wakes up around 5am, eats and goes back to sleep until the 7am hour.  About an hour after she wakes up, she has some breakfast which includes a mixutre of some fruits.  Ussually she has about 3-4 ice cubes(baby food) and then we mix in a little oatmeal.  She loves her puffs and has those at about every meal.  Then around 10 or about 3 hours after she wakes up, she has some milk and then takes a nice long nap for about 1.5-2 hours.  She then plays a bit and has lunch.  She has more milk and takes another nap around 3 or 330 for about an hour and is awake by 5, if not before.  She then plays and has dinner around 530 or 6, bath around 630 and most nights is in bed betweem 7-730.

Kennedy is a full on crawler now, although she is a pretty lazy crawler.  She goes when she wants to and sometimes drops to her army crawl but when she wants to move, she can and pretty fast too!  We had to move Sophey's doggy dishes recently as she likes to crawl on over to explore.

She literally is a eating maching and eats sooo much!  I have made quite a bit of food for her and she really seems to like just about everything we give her.  I still don't think that they look alike but more people are saying that they look alike.  We shall see though.  She is still such a happy smiley little baby that loves to explore with her voice these days!

Kennedy 29 Weeks

What a week.  We started the week with our first night away from the girls together.  We did a early Fathers Day up at one of the wineries in Temecula and Nana stayed with the overnight at our house.

It worked out to be perfect timing since we started sleep training this week so Nana was able to take the first night.... I hate to hear my girls cry and Nana has much thicker skin.  She woke up the first night and Nana went in three times over an hour and half and patted her back and got her back to sleep and she slept till 730, no milk!  Woohoo.  Now it was up to us to continue the trend.  For the most part we have done pretty well.  I have not fed her before 5 am since last week and Ben actually gets up with her if she wakes up and gets her back to sleep.  It's really nice for me and at the same time she does not associate him with being a milk machine so she is not expecting it.  He is doing a great job and I am sure that before long, she will learn to sleep all night!  We have also started putting things in her bed so she has some things to play with to occupy her time.  Sometimes in the morning I wake up and look at the monitor and she is sitting up playing with her books.  I hope that she loves her crib as much as Avery did!

As far as crawling goes, she is pretty much mobile but she has to be enticed.  She can crawl but most of the time she army crawls which is pretty cute.  You just have to put something in front of her that she wants and she finds a way to get there either by crawling, army crawling, or rolling around!  She is a bottomless pit and eats sooo much! It is a pretty much a free for all with food and I give her just about anything and she sure has go go gadget arms.  She shovels puffs in her mouth and is getting pretty good with them...

We had a fun BBQ at our house this week too and the girls had fun playing with their friends and we had fun with everyone as well.  It sure is nice to be back in SD!

Kennedy 28 weeks

Kennedy continues to be so close to crawling by getting up on all fours, rocking, then sitting back down.

She has also learned to go from laying down to sitting pretty well and I found her sitting in her crib one night so needless to say, her crib has been lowered all the way down now.

She has also learned to get her puffs in her mouth pretty well.  There are still quite a few that end up on the floor but she is now getting them in her mouth which is a step up from last week.  I spent some time this week making some more baby food so I have quite a bit for her and I am trying to mix things up.  I made a ton of spinach so I am going to try to mix that in as much as I can and instead of cereal, I got her quinoa and she has only had it once but she seemed to like it.  Pretty soon I am going to start mixing in some spices!

She continues to wake up once a night and goes back to sleep really easy but I am ready to sleep through the night again. I know I just need to let her cry it out but boy is that tough!!  We shall see.  I don't quite think that I am ready for that yet.

Kennedy continues to laugh and giggle and smile at just about everything.  She rarely cries and the faces that she makes are priceless.  Her second bottom tooth has popped through so now she has 2 teeth! She sure is growing up too fast!

Kennedy 6 month check up

We were a little late for Kennedy's six month check up but we were in Vegas when she was officially 6 months so better late than ever.  Dr. Krause gave her an A for her visit and she would have gotten an A+ if I had not told her about how she has decided to wake up once a night since we were in Vegas.  I know it's a phase and she reiterated what I already knew in that if I wanted to nip it in the bud, I would have to let her cry it out... I am just such a softie and hate to hear my baby cry when I know I can help her.  We shall see.

She did pass her visit with flying colors and everyone was amazed at her funny faces and how long she was!  Here are her stats

Weight 18.2 pounds / 75th percentile
Height 29 inches / 97th percentile
Head 44.5 cm / 95th percentile

She is a long string bean.  Almost 2 pounds lighter than Avery was at this age but 2.5 inches longer.  She is taking after her mommy!

Guest blog posting by Daddy for Avery

Early on I was hoping for a baby boy and came up with the name “Dudeson.” It stuck for a while, or at least until we found out 100% you were coming to us as a girl. A little while later we agreed on “Avery,” and began spreading the word. When you were born, the name and everything about you was perfect.

Three years later, I have no regrets about you not being a boy and cherish all the time we spend together. All our days at Child’s Play, Kidville, Parks, Museums, Aquariums and anywhere a season pass was sold, we had one for you. Talk about a busy kid, you are it. Of course, it got pretty hot and cold in Las Vegas, so these passes were a necessity.

San Diego has been a little easier on the passes, but you still got a few of those. In addition to Sea World and the Children’s Museum, we get to go to the Bay/Beach and collect seashells, or just go down the street and hang with your friend Kaylyn, while daddies talk baseball.

Daddy Day Care has most certainly been a blast and I like to think I have had a hand in helping you become the character you are. From the slight OCD you have, to the tooting and nose picking; these are things your mother will blame on me. So let’s hope when you are able to read and understand this, your gross habits will have disappeared. I learned the hard way that kids mimic everything their parents do…sorry!

I could go on and on writing about all the memories we have had together in your first three years, but I won’t. I will end with some of my favorite things about you and to do with you from this time span.

• Your fantastic sleeping pattern
• Watching you begin to laugh / play at 5am while mommy caught up on sleep
• Getting you dressed for the day
• Your smile
• Listening to your stories
• Watching you pick your own outfit and get dressed alone
• Hide and Seek
• Avery-isms – upside over, that should do it, that’s weird, maybe next year
• Walking in the door to hear you say, “Daddy…I missed you!”
• Negotiating with me to stay in your room at bed time
• Laying down with you in morning for an extra half hour of sleep while you watch movie on my phone
• Your imagination and creativity
• Taking you to baseball
• Your prayers

Your mother and I are truly blessed to have a little girl like you. I wish you could stay young forever, but I will take what I get.

I love you tons!

Kennedy 27 Weeks

What a week!  Let me just say that everything that was not supposed to go according to plan did... but we survived.  So let me take you back to Saturday.  We had a trip planned to Last Vegas to see Abagee and Papa.  Ben's high school team decided to turn it up a notch and make it into playoffs and not only that, do REALLY well.  So on Saturday morning, instead of packing the car for Ben and Avery to drive out and Kennedy and I to fly out, I ended up having to pack for the three of us and book Avery a last minute ticket . This was my first time flying with both girls and needless to say I was a little nervous especially since I had to bring just about everything since Ben would not be driving out her car seat and stroller.  So we got all packed up and made it to Las Vegas.  Both kids were really good to be quite honest and they both fell asleep but I was a little stressed to say the least.  I did win mother of the year award by getting K's foot caught in her stroller chasis as I was trying to open it.  Luckily their little bones are still like gumby and the only mark of it happening was her blotchy little face from crying for a minute.

We made it to Abagees and Papas house and had a nice time there.  Ben was not able to make it since his team kept winning so we were planning to come home for his final game if they made it.  I was actually supposed to have a work trip while in Vegas and be gone for two days but God had other plans for us.  Marv ended up in the hospital Tuesday night so early Wednesday we decided to get on a flight and head home so they could get Marv healthy.  So I found myself back on a plane with both kids.  The second flight was a little less stressful but flying alone with both kids is not my favorite thing to do.  The good news is that Marv got out of the hospital pretty fast and they were able to come out for Ben's championship game and spend the weekend here with us.

Ben's team didn't win the final game but were are proud of how far they made it.  We all went to the final game and Avery loved cheering for Daddy and Kennedy enjoyed looking at everything around her.  She sure is a nosy little baby!

She is getting so close to crawling and gets up on all fours and rocks quite a bit.  It will literally be any day now.  She continues to love just about any food that she can get her go go gadget arms on.  On the down side, traveling got her in a bad habit and now she is waking up once a night.  Since she won't take a pacifier, I have to feed her.  I know I need to make her cry it out to get her out of the habit but I just can't do it yet... let's just pray she does it on her own soon.  At the end of the day, its a phase and she goes back to sleep very easily and I know I will look back and realize that it was very short lived so for now I am trying to enjoy those middle of the night snuggles! She continues to be such a happy, easy baby and smiles at just about anyone.  She still is on her 2 nap schedule and and getting bigger and stronger every day!
