Two years old = 24 months

Two years old, I can't believe it.  Avery's smile can light up the room.  She is full of happiness and laughter and joy and is really a happy little kid.  As she gets older and can communicate more and more, things just get more fun.  I have enjoyed every age every step of the way but it really seems like every day continues to be a new adventure with new laughter and new memories and it continues to get better, if that is even possible.

We have had quite a busy last few months and Avery has been a real trooper through it all.  She really is such a laid back kid. No matter where we are, in what city, or what house, she sleeps like a champ and flows into her own little routine.  Her routine has not really changed much other than sleeping a little later and going to bed a little later.  I don't mind this at all because when I get to sleep in until 7:30, that's pretty awesome!

Avery had her 2 year check up and Dr. Glasser was very impressed with her.  She was not shy around her at all and let her check her ears, throat, body, and head.  Here are her stats.
Weight - 28.6 lb (70%)
Height - 35.5" (95th %)

Avery 2nd birthday party

We had a great 2nd birthday party for Avery!  Luckily we had some great weather since it rained the day before and the day after.  We had a duo birthday for Avery at a friends house whose son Nile is a year older than Avery.  They have a great yard and more space so we decided to do it together.  It was great being able to tag team and split up the things that needed to be done.  It really was a great day with good friends.  Here are some pics from the big day.

Happy 2nd Birthday Avery!

We love you Avery and are so blessed to have you in our life!

Disneyland - celebrating Avery 2nd birthday!

Avery's most favorite thing in the world right now is Mickey and Minnie Mouse.  In addition, she loves Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, and just about anything else Disney! We decided to take her to Disneyland again (she calls this Disney), for her second birthday.  At this point we have annual passes now so it's nice to be able to go whenever we want.  We went for two days and she had a blast.  Disneyland is fun no matter how old you are but seeing Disneyland through the eyes of a almost two year old is indescribable. The joy and laughter on her face every single minute of the day that she is there is one of the most "magical" things that you can experience.  The second day that we were there, she got her face painted, of course!  During the day, three people from Disneyland stopped us and wanted to take Avery's picture for one of their promotional tours that they are doing.  They took her pics and give us a photo pass and told us any pics that we took during the day with a photographer would be given to us rather than us having to pay for them.  Needless to say we may see her picture somewhere around Valentines Day! I am sure that we will be spending quite some time at Disneyland in the coming years since it seems to be just about her favorite place!

Christmas - 2011

Avery was so much fun this year for Christmas.  I know that she is a little too young to actually understand the concept of Christmas but she sure enjoys certain aspects of it.

We started off December by decorating the tree.  We didn't do a tree last year so it was fun to get everything out and let her ooh and ahh over the decorations.  She was actually a really good helper getting everything set up.

Santa was also a hit this year.  Last year she was a bit weary of him but this year she loved him and would see him or even a picture of him she would say me me me (which is please in Avery language) and we would say "do you want to go see Santa" and she would shake her head yes and she aghh huh.  I think she actually saw him on three different occasions.  She would walk up to him really shy, then turn around and back into him so he could pick her up.  She was always really shy around him but really liked and always blew him kisses when we would leave.

Next we celebrated Hannukah with Grammy and Grandpa.  Avery sure loves opening presents and just seeing her changes from last year to this year is amazing.  She truly is a little girl and I love watching her explore her surroundings.  She got some great presents from them and did a great job digging into her presents.

We left for San Diego on the 22nd to celebrate Christmas with my parents.  We had such a great time celebrating with them.  Christmas Eve we celebrated with my moms side of the family and Christmas Day it was just our family and then my Aunt and Uncle came over for dinner.  Avery literally tool ALL day to open her gifts. Every gift that she opened she had to stop and play with them.  Watching her in that element made me realize how truly blessed we are to have so much love and support and most of all resources to provide such a fun day for her.  I can't wait until she can understand the meaning of Christmas.  I am sure that every Christmas will continue to be more and more exciting!
