17 1/2 months

I can’t believe that I have an almost 1 ½ year old.  You know how they say terrible two’s, well we think this may be terrible 1 ½. Kidding, well kind of.  Avery has been quite the little pistol needless to say.  She is very aware of things that she can do, can’t do, wants to do and shouldn’t do.  Those all roll up into one which is what she will try to do.  She is very good at throwing little tantrums and trying to get what she wants.  I think that pretty soon we will have to start time out or something along those lines.  It just amazes me how fast she became this self-dependent little toddler.  She makes me smile and laugh through all her “quirks” and I know they are just part of learning and exploring her body and testing her boundaries.  As parents, and in our house grandparents too, we need to find a way to be consistent with her when she has these moments.  She is learning everything and so fast and it’s up to us to guide her teach her what is right and wrong.  I love that she is so independent and determined, but it can be a bit trying at times.  Thank God she is such a lovey.  She truly gives the best hugs, kisses, and snuggles.  It makes up for all of her moments.

Her sleep habits are back to normal, thank God!  She loves being in her bed and going nigh-nights as well.  What a relief!  Most of the time she take a nap around 1pm and will sleep anywhere from 1 ½ - 3 hours.   The three hour naps are quite nice. She is still going to bed by 8.  She has started to get into some new movies other than Elmo.  She still loves Elmo but at times will say no no when Elmo comes on so we are trying some new movies out.  Caillou seems to be a top competitor but we will see.

My parents came back in town for a few days and we went to brunch at the Silverton with them and Ben’s parents.  We spend some time in Bass Pro shops and Avery had quite a field day running around looking at the animals and the fish and trying on hats and sunglasses.  She’s a funny little one!  Daddy bought her her first set of golf clubs.  Can you tell where his priorities are?

A couple of times during the week, we take her to the indoor play area called Child’s Play.   She really enjoys going and loves to watch the other kids as well as get into just about anything that she can. I remember when we first started taking her there.  She would try to climb up the play-houses and it would scare me half to death.  Although she was an early walker and was pretty good at climbing, it still scared me.  Well now she is up those things without even a second thought.  It still scares me a little but she acts like she is a pro.  She will even go down the biggest slide they have there by herself.  The joy on her face after she does it is indescribable.

Sophey and Aves are still best buds.  We are so blessed that Sophey has been so good with her.

Here are a few other recent pics!
