First trip to the dentist

We took Avery for her first trip to the dentist.  We had been talking to her about this for some time so that she was prepared and knew what was coming as we didn't want her to be scared.  We figured the earlier we start the habit, the easier it will be for her to go and not even think twice about it.

So off we went to the dentist one sunny morning.  We had a great place that was highly recommended by some friends and it had gotten great reviews as well.  The minute we walked in, Avery loved the waiting room.  There was a huge fish tank and a projector playing Toy Story 3.  In addition, there was a huge toy area that she could go immerse herself in.  When they called her name, she took my hand and said come on mommy.

Once we got back to the her room, she hopped right up on the chair herself and laid down.  The nurse proceeded to talk her through everything and tell her what she was going to do. She let her take x-rays of her mouth and was such a helpful little girl.  Then the Dr. came in and brushed and flossed her teeth, counted her teeth, cleaned them with some "safe" fluoride and then gave her the suction to hold and let her use when she wanted.  Never once did she complain or try to have him stop.  I was so happy that her first trip to the dentist was such a huge success.  She got some great toys from the Dr. and a balloon so needless to say, I don't think going back will be an issue!

Here are some pics.
