December 2014

It is finally cooling off around here!  It's about time. We started the month off by going to Disneyland. It was Abagee's first time with all of us and we had a great time.  It was raining the whole time we were there but that didn't stop us!  We came prepared for the rain!

When we got home we didn’t waste any time and got going on getting the Christmas decorations out.  The girls are really getting into it.  We even put lights on the house this year for the first time and Avery and Kennedy kept calling them icicles from Frozen.

Avery had her Nutcracker rehearsal and show she did a great job!

We did a breakfast with Shamu at Sea World and the girls did the sled in the snow area and loved it.  Kennedy looked so little but she hung on tight and followed sissys lead and did a great job!

Both kids had dentist appointments and Kennedy did a great job!  She has quite the over bite but other than that her teeth look good.  Avery needs to work on flossing and has a few cavities… which is a parent fail on our part.. I am sure this is the first of many.

Kennedy has become a pro at climbing in and out of her crib so this month, we officially moved her into her toddler bed which simply takes off the outside rail.  She loved it right away but that night she tried to procrastinate which she is excellent at and said “put my other rail back on please”…. Little stinker.  We of course didn’t listen to her and she hasn’t said a thing since.  She does still try to crawl over the little railing that is on her bed… silly kid.

With Christmas so close, Aunt Boo has been doing lots of cooking and cookie and gingerbread house decorating with them.  Kennedy eats more than she actually decorates but they both love to do it.  Thank goodness again for Aunt Boo!

Ben and I had a date night for Rochelle’s wedding.  It was fun to see quite a few friends from college again!

Avery started gymnastics and loves it and Kennedy is still going and loves it just as much!

We had a fun night with the Pichons, Oreshacks, and Hamrics for a Christmas dinner night.  Fun to get all the kids together but goodness do they know how to destroy a house.

We did our family Christmas night at the Irvine Train Park.  The girls had a fun time, the weather was not too cold but it was a far drive.  Not sure if we will do it next year but making traditions with them sure is fun!

We had a really nice Christmas (which will have it’s own post) and New Year.  The idea of Christmas and the Elf on the Shelf and all the traditions that go along with it are becoming more and more fun as they are getting older.

The week after Christmas Auntie Pam and Lee invited us up to their house for dinner and a boat ride to see the lights on the lake.  The kids LOVED it and she made a great dinner.  Then when we thought the night was over, we pulled up at one of their lake rentals and Auntie Pam had a fire going outside and we roasted marshmallows.. .which the kids loved even more.  Avery asked if her and Pam Pam could have a girls day, just the two of them.  It was pretty cute!  She sure is a sweetie!

Kennedy’s is still wearing diapers and refuses to poop on the toilet.  She will go pee all the time but when she has to poop, she magically disappears and 2 seconds later you can smell her a mile away. I am hoping that we can find something that she likes enough to entice her to start going on the big girl potty because we are ready to kick diapers to the curb!  Her nap time and bed time routine is something….   Avery has to sing her a lullaby while K and I lean back in her chair.  Then she gets up, sings two lullabies holding a baby and listening to the music box that Nana got her from Disneyland and dancing.  Then she climbs in bed, I cover her up, and sis sings her one more and puts her to bed….  Then for bed time, Avery comes in, sings one lullaby while Kennedy and I lean back in her chair, Avery leaves and she has to have both her star machines on… normally the blue color, and then she sits next to me and we talk.  Those are the conversations that I hold so dear to my heart because all she is doing is procrastinating, which he is good at, but the things that she thinks about are totally random and funny.  “Mommy, why you drive a car like this (insert pretent hands on a steering wheel going fast side to side)”   Then when it’s time to actually go to bed, she knows she can get me a few more minutes by sitting on my and cuddling and getting back and tummy tickles which she has become a very big fan of.  Then she proceeds to give me a butterfly kiss on each eye, a nose kiss, then a kiss on each cheek, then a lip kiss, and then finally a forehead kiss.  Did you catch all that?  And yes that is every night.  I know that is just the routine that she has with me and I am a sucker and fall for it each and every time.  But on the flip side she is the best sleeper.  She goes down awake and then when she wakes up, she will play for about 30-45 in her crib and wait for you to come in a get her.

She is saying some of the funniest things lately too and still talks in the third person.

Me not fall out.
Hold on a second, I tell you later
Leave me alone… (me- Kennedy don’t talk like that)  Leave me alone… PLEASE!
How you sleep mommy
Sis you having fun?

Avery has her own little quirks as well.  She likes to get dressed all on her own and let me tell you, some of her outfits are priceless.  She always has to roll up her pant legs… for no reason.  She loves to dance and sing made up songs.  She still comes in our room every single night. She is very outgoing and once you get her talking, she won’t stop.  She is loving, caring, happy, and bright.  She is very sweet with Kennedy and they sure do love each other most of the time.
