25 Weeks

Wow what a difference a week makes. So much has changed just in one week. We started the week out by driving to San Diego to escape the 110+ weather and to take care of some things that we needed to do here. Since Avery is so active during the day, we decided to leave when it was her bed time. It was a risky move but we needed to try it out and see how she did. The verdict is in and she did great. She slept just about the entire time. When we got to SD around midnight, we made the mistake of not turning off the dome lights when we opened the car door so the bright lights woke her up and she thought it was time to be awake! She was awake for about an hour and half before realizing it was the middle of the night and she should be sleeping. She finally fell asleep again and was out until about 7:30 the next morning.

The next few days Ben was in town with us so we spent some time at dog beach and visiting friends.

As always, Avery was a trooper and enjoyed seeing some of her friends her age. She continues to be the biggest baby out of all of them with the exception of my volleyball friend’s kids even though she is by far the youngest. Watching her around other babies is so cute because she is so curious and loves to touch them and stare at them. I am so happy that she has other kids her age that she will be able to grow up with. Now all we have to do is get back to SD so she can do that.

One afternoon we went down to the pool at Paradise Point to go swimming. Avery, the little fish, did not want to get out of the water. At one point I got out with her because she was so tired and knew that she needed to take a little nap so we got out and dried off and she just sat on my lap staring at the pool and giving me every inclination that she could that she wanted back in that pool. I of course gave in and we went back in the pool only to have her fall asleep on my in the pool about ten minutes later! She truly loves to swim.

In just one week, Avery has really made a lot of changes. First off, she sits so well on her own and can go from being on all fours to sitting without even thinking about it. Then on Friday, she began to crawl! She is still a little slow at it but she has got the crawling motions down. You put her down and entice her with something that she wants and before long she is right there next to you. She does this funny thing to get her going where she is on all fours, lifts her butt high into the air and straightens her legs, and then starts crawling (think downward dog for you yoga people). Give it a week and she will be all over the house. I guess it is time to baby proof!

One other development is that our 5 1/2 month old is officially in the 20 lb. club! She is a tank! No wonder I have muscles on my arm since I carry 20 lbs. around all day!

She also has taken on two new things.  One is what we call scrunch nose where she scrunches her nose up real tight and gets noisy.  It's really her fussy face and it is so hard not to laugh at her.  The other is what we call Thumper.  No matter what she is doing, her right foot is always moving and shaking.  She can not keep that thing still!

We are still in SD and will be here a few more days. Nana wants us to stay all week but we need to get home to Daddy at some point. Hope you all have a great week!
